Beyond Fisheries: Challenges and Opportunities in the Blue Economy

blue-economyclimateyouthgreen-bridges

What comes to mind when we hear "blue economy"? For many, the answer is still fisheries. But the blue economy is much broader — and so are the opportunities for young people to shape it. Green Bridges hosts an interactive virtual exchange bringing together young people from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa to explore ocean and coastal challenges and the opportunities they create for entrepreneurship, social innovation and community action. Facilitated by Khiusha Uaila and co-facilitated by Milton Chavane from ASSAMBA, the session combines practical input with breakout discussions where participants identify challenges from their own regions and co-create possible solutions. Target group: young people aged 18–30 from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. Green Bridges is a virtual exchange initiative connecting young people across Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa around climate action, social innovation and intercultural learning. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
